This is technically an off-topic posting, since this is a BI-cycle message board and I'm posting a UNI-cycle story. I guess it still beats the geopolitical/religious discussions on this board anyday. Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did watching.

I had the privilege of riding with Kris Holm this weekend. Yeah, I'll admit that I'm a Kris Holm fan. In addition to being a truly amazing rider, he is also a really good guy. Some readers of this board are probably acutely aware that the North Shore trails are cluttered with the insecure who feel their own personal inadequecies need to be complemented with a large doses of posing and posturing. The inflated egos and Attitudes (that's with a capital "A") of nsmb.com, sadly, do exist outside of cyberspace.

Kris is a true Boy Scout. He is constantly bombarded with the same questions wherever and whenever he rides his unicycle. (Where did you buy your unicycle? How much did it cost? When did you start riding? Do you practise? How much do you practise? Do you have a day job? Can I learn to ride a unicycle?). He has zero trace of any kind of ego and ever graciously stops to talk to others to answer questions that would drive me nuts. All this after climbing 2,000 ft in elevation on dirt road on a unicycle!

Here is Kris riding 3" beam, elevated an estimated 15-18 feet above the ground, silhouetted against the forest canopy:

Next, a sequence of shots. Kris got up onto this 5 ft diameter log by bunny-hopping 3 feet vertically onto the splintered end the log:

He turns 90 degrees onto a skinny 4-incher

and contines down the log

I didn't catch on camera his ride up a sloping 3-inch beam, followed by a 180-degree turn on the beam and ride down it and then attempt to ride up it again, in reverse (he fell off at that point!).

Riding a unicycle requires INTENSE concentration:

Here's a picture of Kris about to get some air:
